Steve ObeidName: Steve Obeid

Age: 19

What team do you play for? FC Williamstown (Vision Impaired League)/Blind Sports Victoria (B1 Championships)

What do you love about playing football? It doesn’t matter what skill level, everyone can get involved and play.

Tell us a little about the highlight of your playing history so far: Taking part in a clinic with Liverpool FC when they visited Australia a couple of years back. The clinic was for people with a vision impairment and I received praise from the academy coaches, including the great Ian Rush.

Share an interesting fact about yourself: I was lucky to be given the opportunity to go to the US to be part of the World Special Olympics, an opportunity a lot of other people don’t get (my university paid for me to go).

 

Shae SkinnerName: Shae Skinner

Age: 31

What team do you play for? Preston Lions FC (Vision Impaired League) and Social Goal (B1 Championships)

When did you start playing football? 2014

What do you love about playing football? It’s a competitive contact sport that everyone can play, especially now with blind football being here.

Tell us a little about the highlight of your playing history so far: Being able to run around in open space and play the only blind sport that is full contact! Also, I was part of the first week of the B League, which included the first ever B1 game played in Australia.

Share an interesting fact about yourself: I love cooking and I am starting up my own business. My specialty is biscuits with my Melting Moment cookies having quite the reputation amongst family and friends.

 

Joseph AccettaName: Joseph Accetta

Age: 23

What team do you play for? Truganina Soccer Club and Victorian 7-a-side State Team

When did you start playing football? Age 14

What do you love about playing football? Opportunities to meet and play against people with the same disability; great opportunities to represent our State and Hopefully one day country.

Tell us a little about the highlight of your playing history so far: Represented Victoria at 9 National Championships, been to several Australian training Camps since the age of 17 narrowly missing selection to represent Australia a number of times.
