Football is now a regular fixture in interschool sport for many Special Schools across Melbourne. Programs are currently running in the Southern and Northern suburbs, supported by FFV and the following organisations:
- Southern Special Schools Sports Association (SSSSA)
- Northern Special Schools Sports Association (NSSSA)
- School Sports Victoria
- Belgravia Leisure
FFV looks forward to more students discovering football as these programs continue to develop across Melbourne. As a result of these programs we also hope to see more links developing between special schools and local football clubs.

SSSSA have a well established interschool sports program, which has featured football for a number of years. In 2015 there will be two components of the program, with the Competition Division playing football in Term 2, and the Development Division in Term 3. 13 schools will be participating in these programs held at Knox Regional Football Centre. This is a fantastic facility for this type of program with its 9 enclosed Football Fives pitches and the full sized pitch which hosts the A grade competition.
13 schools are currently participating in a brand new indoor program offered by FFV, Belgravia Leisure and Netball Victoria, at the Diamond Valley Leisure Centre. Students get to experience both Netball and Football in this program, with many of them trying these sports for the first time. SEDA students play an important role in this program, running skills clinics and refereeing matches under the guidance of FFV referees and coaches.
Planning is currently underway for additional multisport programs in the northern suburbs.
