The National Training Centre was established in 2000 to ensure Victoria’s female players had similar access to their male counterparts in the VIS program. The program operates all year round with approximately 20 scholarships offered each year to girls to improve the physical and mental aspect of their games, with an aim of preparing girls for national and league selection.

The program includes participating in the Under 13 Boys South East Super League, the method of playing regularly against boys being a highly successful ploy used by the top international teams. Players are educated in areas such as strength and conditioning, fitness, nutrition, sports psychology and hydration. Access is given to world class facilities and coaching professionals of the highest standard in order for them to maintain a balanced programme concentrating on physiological management and integrating the physical, mental, technical and tactical aspects of the sport with a holistic approach which includes personal development and career guidance.
