The Don’t Stand By. Stand Up! campaign was a finalist for the 2014 Best Sports Development Initiative by an Affiliated Vicsport member announced at the Vicsport Awards on Tuesday March 17, 2015 as well as a finalist for the 2015 Human Rights Award in the Racism. It Stops With Me category.
FFV would like to thank its partners VicHealth and the Australian Human Rights Commission for their support and commitment to this campaign. Importantly too, the FFV clubs (52 in total) who dedicated their volunteering time to sign up to the pledge and empower their players, officials and spectators to safely intervene when they witness racism.
In further support of this campaign, its three ambassadors - Andrew Nabbout and Gulcan Koca and Jason Hoffman are also to be congratulated for their valuable contribution on and off the pitch.
All across Australia, there are people and organisations doing great things to reduce and prevent racism. You can contribute too; your club can stand up to racism and show that it has no place in our game.
Take the pledge to add your support to the cause, then utilise the information and resources found below to stand up to racism.
FFV and VicHealth have joined forces to empower football clubs and their players, officials and spectators to safely intervene when they witness racism.
Don’t Stand By. Stand Up! aims to support the football community in responding and intervening safely when race-based discrimination is seen or heard. Importantly, the campaign will focus on racism in all its forms, from subtle exclusion to overt verbal abuse on and off the field.
FFV is committed to ensure that you have the tools to be informed and take action as required. We need clubs to pledge their support and get behind the cause as well.
Head to the pledge page to sign on and then use the information and resources found on this page to make a difference.
There are prizes and giveaways for clubs that do sign on and get involved; you can view the details on the Take the Pledge page. Don’t Stand By. Stand Up!
