Facility Grants

When it comes to football, participation is booming with more than 350,000 Victorians playing the world game. Government have recently announced significant funding for sport here in Victoria running into the next State Election. Some of this funding has been specifically allocated to football, through the $2.5 Million ‘The World Game Facilities Fund’, much more funding is available to football and all other sports through a range of grants available to Councils.

Football Federation Victoria (FFV) believes that it is important that all our stakeholders including Clubs and Councils are aware of the opportunity that currently exists to grow and upgrade football facilities across Victoria. The funds will allow football clubs and Local Government Authorities (LGA's) to apply for support to deliver projects such as new lighting, new pitches or pitch upgrades and building female-friendly change rooms and facilities.

All funding is available through Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) which has several active Grant Programs that relate to Football.

Below is a summary of the where Clubs and LGA’s should be in discussions and focused if they wish to take advantage of the significant amount of money available.

In the first instance, it's important to note that Clubs need to contact their Council partner. Clubs can only access funding from this program through their LGA. After contacting your local LGA, if you would like additional assistance, please contact your FFV Club Ambassador listed towards the end of this email.

We will make it easier for SRV investment where grant applications are tailored to achieve outcomes that are aligned with SRV and LGA strategic plans. Good projects and the ones that skip to the top of the ladder usually have the following characteristics:

1. Have a Council endorsed Master Plan
2. Have Concept Designs of the facility or playing field or lighting layout plan etc to enable a robust cost estimate
3. Council Funding confirmed/committed
4. Partnership/Club funding confirmed/committed
5. Support from the State Sporting Association with alignment to the sport’s strategic plan
