"The FFA Cup is a great opportunity for the referees department to use for development purposes and give referees experience of a national cup competition and being involved in cup games," FFV Referee Youth Development Manager Chris Hope said.

"The assistant referees officiating with Hary Milas at last round's feature game had only done a handful of senior lines thus far. Both are members of the new FFV Referees Academy which was formed in 2016 to support the referee development pathway in Victoria.

"Both benefited from working on a game with a referee of Hary Milas' experience and thoroughly enjoyed the experience."
