FFV Partners With 2018 U-Nite Cup
Multicultural Communities Represented In 2018 U-Nite Cup
Football Federation Victoria is proud to partner with Melbourne Victory and the Melbourne Chinese Soccer Association (MCSA) to present the 2018 U-Nite Cup.
The draw was held on Wednesday October 15 with action to kick off at the State Football Centre in Darebin on Sunday November 4.
Nations represented by teams in the tournament will be Australia, Afghanistan, China, Fiji, Iran, Iraq, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Nepal, Zimbabwe and defending champions Mauritius as well as a team representing the Kawthoolei people of Myanmar.
FFV CEO Peter Filopoulos praised the tournament.
"FFV is delighted to be part of the sixth U-Nite Cup tournament in partnership with Melbourne Chinese Soccer Association and the Melbourne Victory Football Club," Mr Filopoulos said.
"Having 20 teams representing grass roots football communities is a wonderful expression of how this game engages people into one of Australia’s favourite sporting pastimes."
MCSA secretary Andrew Young said the U-Nite Cup embraced and celebrated cultural diversity.
"The ongoing and valuable FFV leadership and support are paramount to the growth of grass roots community football in Victoria" Young said.
