Former Socceroo Gary Cole Joins FFV Leadership Team

Cole to drive significant initiatives for growth of Victorian football

Football Federation Victoria’s commitment to establishing a stronger administrative foundation has been significantly enhanced by the appointment of former Socceroo Gary Cole to the position of Manager, Football Strategy and Special Projects.

Cole will be the driving force leading a number of significant football initiatives at FFV, including the Men’s and Boys’ Football Competition Review, the Women’s and Girls’ Competition Review, work with the FFV technical team on the optimum format of the game at relevant under age levels and will be influential in stewarding the growth and development of female participation as the game’s 2022 Women’s FIFA World Cup bid progresses.

FFV President Kimon Taliadoros said that Cole adds strong experience to a team that will deliver outstanding football outcomes for all Victorians.

“We’re delighted that Gary has joined our leadership team at FFV. He needs no introduction to Victorian football. As a former Socceroo, he has played at the highest level in the country, has served as Football Manager at Hyundai A-League clubs Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC and has extensive experience managing large recreation centres in Victorian local communities, experience that brings strong leadership skills and close relationships with state and local government.” said Taliadoros.

“Gary’s appointment, in addition to other key appointments being announced soon, will enable FFV to provide the high performance culture we strive for and the mutual respect we continually wish to earn from our football family.”

Football Federation Victoria is committed to the prosperity of its clubs and developing vital facilities and infrastructure that can ensure significant participation growth of our beautiful game across the state. This commitment demands stronger integration, proactive communication and more productive relations between FFV and its key stakeholders including our clubs, all levels of government and its Members.
