FFV Statement: Coolaroo Smoke Cloud
Update On Matches In Area Affected By Air Quality Hazard
Football Federation Victoria has acted on warnings from State Government department VicEmergency and taken measures to brief affected clubs in the interest of public safety.
The VicEmergency website issued an evacuation recommendation for the northern suburbs of Dallas and Coolaroo on Thursday July 13, 2017 that continued into Friday July 14. This was due to a fire at Maffra St Coolaroo with smoke plumes drifting over the warning area.
At the time of publishing of this article on FFV.org.au, 5:30pm on Friday July 14, 2017, VicEmergency had updated its recommendation to "People who evacuated from Dallas can now return to their homes and business."
Host clubs in the region have been contacted by FFV to proceed with an action plan so that their matches may continue this weekend, on the proviso VicEmergency does not escalate the hazard classification of their area.
All football participants and fans are advised to take adequate precaution when traveling to matches near the affected region this weekend.
