Richmond Soccer Club benefit from sponsor volunteer effort
Richmond's major sponsor GE were on hand last week to help out around the club.
VPL club Richmond Eagles were fortunate enough to secure the services of 20 GE volunteers on Wednesday 6 June to assist with a major ‘winter clean’ of the clubrooms and facilities.
As an employer GE promotes community engagement through a volunteering programme which sees employees commit a minimum of 5 hours every six months.
In a complete departure from their day jobs which include, Marketing, IT, Commercial Finance and Procurement and Supply Chain Management, the GE staff mucked in with a range of jobs from cleaning, weeding, sweeping and vacuuming.
Taking a break from these jobs they enjoyed a brief experience of playing on Kevin Bartlett Reserve by having an impromptu kick around for about 30 minutes.
Club Secretary Jon Vonk said that the club was thrilled to have GE lend hand.
“We are fortunate to have GE as the clubs major sponsor this year and whilst their financial support is fantastic to have, so is access to a team of dedicated volunteers who really threw themselves into the tasks at hand," he said.
"Richmond SC is extremely happy with the result of all the GE Volunteers hard work and we look forward to them returning in the next 6 months.”
