17.08.2012

Football Federation Victoria’s Community Relations Officer, Ahmed Dini, has been awarded the prestigious SACS Award for Leadership in the not-for-profit sector.

Moonee Valley City Council nominated Ahmed for his outstanding leadership within his community, as Chairman and Event Manager of the Australian Somali Football Association, in addition to his role on the Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal Board and as employment advocate for the SEED Project.

The SACS Awards recognise examples of true leadership - behaviours which change the experiences of colleagues and stakeholders, and which inspire people to follow the example and guidance of the leader and to innovate and improve things themselves. The award provides $7,500 prize money to be used to foster the development of leadership through a program of Ahmed’s choice.  Ahmed will also receive free admission to the highly successful Leadership Victoria Board Orientation programme.

This award caps off a great year for Ahmed in which is he has been inducted into the Victorian Refugee Recognition Record, announced as a People for Australia Ambassador and winner of the Victorian Local Hero of the Year in the Australian of the Year program.
