Theresa Deas Medal to be awarded
Pelada Cup Best on Ground to be awarded medal by football legend.
The player adjudged best on ground in tomorrow’s Pelada Cup Final between Box Hill United and Bundoora United will receive the Theresa Deas Medal which will be presented by the legend herself.
The Football Federation Australian Hall of Fame inductee will be in attendance at Lakeside Stadium for the 3pm kick-off of Victoria’s premier knockout competition for women.
Deas was a pioneer of women’s football, representing Victoria at age 14 and making her Matildas debut at 17. Before her international retirement in 1988 Deas had toured New Zealand, Hawaii, New Caledonia, China, Taiwan and South America with the national team.
Since retiring, the recently indicted FFV Hall of Fame member has been mentoring young women who are aiming to follow in her footsteps, helping them as they progress through the junior ranks and go on to play at an elite level.
The Pelada Cup Final will kick-off at 3pm at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday with free entry for all.
