Football clinics held i Shepparton for indigenous school students.

As a part of Football Federation Australia's Football Dreaming initiative, Football Federation Victoria conducted clinics for indigenous students from four schools in Shepparton: Mooroopna PS, Mooroopna Park PS, Gowrie St PS and Shepparton High School.

A total of 55 kids aged between 11 and 15 took part.

From this event, players were selected to represent Shepparton at the State Indigenous Football Carnival in the Under 13 Boys, Under 13 Girls, Under 15 Boys and Under 15 Girls categories.

The clinics were delivered by Atila Kerestes, FFV Goulburn North East Zone Development Officer, and Joel Sloan, former captain of the inaugural Victorian Indigenous representative team, Marngrook Meenteel.

The clinics were very well received, with Kerestes full of praise for Indigenous Mentor Joel Sloan.

"The kids had a ball and their enthusiasm was electric," he said.

"Joel was a master around the kids and the respect towards him beamed from them all.

"It was great to have an indigenous mentor to help deliver the program."

The State Indigenous Carnival will kick-off on Wednesday 27 September at Ballarat.
