New Additions To Zagame's State Leagues

Updated Zagame's State Leagues 2017 Pyramid Has Four New Additions

Four clubs have been granted Zagame's State League status for 2017 and will join the seventh tier of Victorian men's club football.

Maidstone United, Bunyip District, Moonee Valley Knights and Deakin University SC (Geelong) have all been allocated to Zagame's State League 5.

Updated Zagame's State Leagues divisions are available here.

Maidstone United club founder George Bourakis was thrilled after receiving the club's acceptance letter.

"Who would have thought that back in it's foundation years of 1986-87, where the club experienced heavy onfield losses playing in the lowest division of the Amateur Sunday League," Bourakis said.

"That 30 years later our Club would still exist, and now participate in the FFV State League."

Deakin University SC (Geelong) club administrator Patrick McGann said the club was excited to be taking the next step.

"We have been building steadily over the last five years and with the growth in players," McGann said.

"The new facilities at Deakin University and our success in the local (Geelong) competition we are ready to take on the challenge of state leagues."

Moonee Valley Knights administrator Peter Boulos was also excited about the club's admission.

"We would like to thank the FFV for providing us with the opportunity to play in the state leagues for 2017," Moonee Valley Knights administrator Peter Boulos said.

"We would like to thank our sponsors, supporters, players and the community for assisting us in the process.

"The club has been working hard over the last 5 years to grow and we’ve started to develop some talented young individuals. Following our successful seasons in 2015 and 2016, we look forward to the challenges that 2017 brings."

Bunyip Strikers president Adrian Gatti believes the club's admission will have big benefits for the region.

"The Bunyip Strikers Soccer Club are a young and growing club," Gatti said.

"The Strikers inclusion in the State Leagues is a giant step forward for the club as it continues to build, a major boost to the Bunyip and District community and a real bonus for soccer in the Cardinia Shire."

Other club applications to join Zagame's State Leagues are still under assessment by FFV.

Zagame's State Leagues structures will next be updated on Friday January 20, 2017.
