Player Infomation



This section of the website is designed to provide valuable information to both Amateur and Professional Players who register with Football Federation Victoria (FFV) member clubs.


Amateur Players

An amateur player is any player that is not a professional.

You are an amateur player if you fall into one of the following categories;

• A Player in the Victorian Premier League or State League One that DOES NOT have a contract with a club
• All players in the Women’s Premier League
• All Players in the Men’s State 2 and 3 Leagues
• All Players in the Men’s Provisional 1, 2 and 3 Leagues
• All Players in the Men’s Metropolitan Leagues
• All Players in the Women’s State and Metropolitan Leagues
• All Players in the Thirds and Masters Leagues
• All Players in the Junior Leagues
• All Rooball Participants
• All Small Sided Game’s (SSG’s) Participants

 


Professional Players

A Professional Player is a Player who has a written contract with a club in which that player is paid to play football for that club. A player may only be registered as a Professional in one of the following two (2) leagues;
• Victorian Premier League
• State League One (1)

Professional Player Contracts
All contracts must be in the form of Prescribed Form NRR 05 – Professional Player Contract. Only contracts supplied by Football Federation Victoria are valid for Premier League and State League One competitions. Only those contracts, lodged to the federation will be recognised by Football Federation Victoria.

Victorian Premier League – Professional Player Contract = GREEN COVER
State League One (1) – Professional Player Contract = PURPLE COVER
Loan Professional Player Contract = BLUE COVER

How can a Player obtain a Copy of their Professional Player Contract?
Players are advised and have the right to request a copy of their Professional Player Contract from their club or Football Federation Victoria. Clubs are obliged to provide a copy of a Players’ contract upon request by a player.

A Player may request a copy of their Professional Player Contract via the Registrations Department of Football Federation Victoria (FFV). The player MUST produce proof of identification (Driver's Licence) when picking up a contract or fax through proof of ID when requesting a copy over the phone.

What is the Base Wage?
The ‘Base Wage’ stipulated on every player’s contract is the minimum weekly payment every professional player must receive whether playing or not playing football. This includes all of the following circumstances, whether;
• Playing a full match for the Seniors or U21 team
• Appearing as a substitute for the Seniors or U21 team
• Remaining on the bench for the entire Seniors or U21 match
• Unselected due to injury and/ or currently under suspension

The ‘Base Wage’ is also used for the calculation of any transfer fee that may apply as a result of a Professional Player leaving a club while still under contract.

What are the Match Bonuses?
The 'Match Bonus' is the bonus paid by the club when you take part in a Senior or U21 match as stipulated in the Professional Player Contract. Match Bonuses are payable when you take part in a match for the club during the season and may be in accordance to the conditions set out by the club and approved by FFV in the Special Conditions section on Page 8 of the Professional Players Contract.
