Sport and Recreation 2018-19 State Budget Announcements

The Victorian Budget provides $60 million for the Community Sporting Infrastructure Fund and $100 million towards the innovative Community Sports Infrastructure Loans Scheme to provide lower interest rate loans to support councils, clubs, schools and facility managers invest in sport and recreation infrastructure.

Football Federation Victoria (FFV) welcomes the recent State Government announcement stating significant investment to improve Victoria's sports infrastructure.

We understand the need to ensure Melbourne maintains its claim as Australia's - and the world's - sporting capital.

We also know of the enormous demand in Melbourne's growing suburbs, and throughout the state, that we are all struggling to cater for.

There are plenty of sports infrastructure projects at a regional and local level, that with funding support from the State Government, will help ensure that nobody – girl or boy, child or adult - will miss out on the chance to benefit from active participation in their favoured sport.

Amongst the Government's announcements, we look particularly look forward to learning more about what the $100 million Community Sports Infrastructure Loan Scheme, extra funding for the Community Sporting Infrastructure Fund, and further opportunities under the Female Friendly Facilities Fund will mean for FFV, our clubs and our community.
