Ten FFV NTC players selected for FFA CoE trials
"They're talented, they're hardworking, and I know they'll do well wherever they go." - Boris Seroshtan on the ten Victorians selected for FFA CoE trials.
Ten Victorians have been shortlisted for the 2015 FFA Centre of Excellence [FFA CoE] intake after FFV NTC's back-to-back title-winning performances at the FFA National Institute Challenge.
The 10 players were invited to a camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in late January, the aim of which was to identify potential players for the FFA CoE and under 17 Joey’s team.
FFV NTC head coach Boris Seroshtan said having ten players nominated for a potential spot highlighted the quality of the players we have in Victoria.
“I believe that Victoria has always produced quality players and getting ten players in to the camp is showing that youth development in Victoria is going from strength to strength," Seroshtan said.
The FFA CoE is Australia's premier talent identification and player program, which has produced some of Australia's most famous footballers.
It is approaching the half-way point of its current scholarship cycle of 98/99 born players, and staff are currently evaluating the intake and scholarship holders.
There are already a number of FFA CoE scholarships available, and may be more following the review.
The ten players who have been identified as potential scholarship holders are: Sebastian Pasquali, Denis Genreau, Mersim Memeti, Jonathan Vakirtzis, Lucas Derrick, SametSalis, Connor Metcalfe, Callum Goulding, Cameron McGilp, and Benjamin Carrigan.
The shortlisted players went into camp at the AIS from January 29-31.
Seroshtan said he was very happy for the boys who have been touted as potential scholarship holders.
“I am very exited that abilities, hard work and dedication of these talented players have been recognized," he said.
"They're talented, they're hardworking, and I know they'll do well wherever they go.
"What makes me even happier is that all of them are already involved with A-League clubs "
