Trophy Holders To Open 2016
Bentleigh Greens to play South Melbourne in 2016 Community Shield
The Reagan Milstein Foundation has been named as the official presenting partner of Football Federation Victoria's second annual Community Shield.
The Community Shield match will be played between holders and Dockerty Cup champions South Melbourne and PS4 NPL Victoria champions Bentleigh Greens on Friday February 12 at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex in Cheltenham.
The Community Shield pits the PS4 NPL Victoria winner against the Dockerty Cup holder in an annual showpiece game to kick-off the new season.
The Reagan Milstein Foundation aims to raise funds to offer financial and moral support to Australian youngsters who may not have the opportunity or financial resources to play sport or be involved in a sports club.
"As an FFV charity partner for a number of years we are incredibly proud to be a part of this football event," RMF Director Kevin Milstein said.
"Our message of providing football opportunities to young people fits well the kick-off to a season where more footballers than ever before are pulling on the boots to play.
"It is exciting to be able to promote the message and values of the Reagan Milstein Foundation at a match where Victoria's two best teams of the last 12 months will be kicking off the new season."
South Melbourne won the PS4 NPL Victoria premiership from Bentleigh Greens on goal difference last year but the Greens would beat South Melbourne 3-1 after extra time in the PS4 NPL Victoria Grand Final.
FFV will donate all profit from the match to the Reagan Milstein Foundation.
