Women's Metro Sevens

At the start of the 2017 winter season FFV launched the inaugural Women’s Metro Sevens (WM7's) competition. WM7’s is a seven-a-side half pitch competition that aims to provide a social and fun football environment for women to participate in football who do not necessarily have the time or desire to commit to a traditional Women’s State League season.

WM7’s has two separate nine (9) Round seasons during the year, with the mid-season break aligning with the July school holidays when player availability is typically limited due to school/university holidays. Teams can choose to enter both seasons or only enter season one or two depending on their circumstances.

Season Dates

The first WM7s season will commence on Sunday 29 April, with nine (9) rounds and one bye on the Queen’s Birthday Long weekend, concluding on Sunday 1 July.

The second WM7’s season will commence on Sunday 22 July with nine (9) Rounds of football, concluding on Sunday 16 September.

Competition Structure

For the Online Team Entry Period, the below leagues have been created to offer the competition in geographic based competitions:

  • WM7’s North
  • WM7’s West
  • WM7’s East
  • WM7’s South
  • WM7’s Masters

FFV will assess the number of team entries before each season and create league structures, and where applicable/if necessary, make changes to the above structure. Depending on the number of team entries, leagues may be amalgamated to create viable leagues. It is important to note that when finalising the league structures, we aim to provide localised leagues to minimise travel.

The updated league structures and fixtures have now been published and can be found here.

2018 Team Entries (New and returning from 2017 Season)
